I was torn yesterday. Part of me really wanted to take a nap - part of me REALLY wanted to update this blog and spend some fun time with my family - and part of me and the kids really wanted to make cookies, cards, pick some pretty tulips from our yard and visit my mom for mother's day - a surprise visit. We chose the later and I'm glad we did. There aren't too many sundays that Andy doesn't have meetings, so we took advantage of that! Anyway, now I've decided to spoil myself this week and allow myself an hour or so each day to update the blog (my journal)! We'll see if Nathan cooperates and actually takes a good nap. He had a hard time the first few months with what I believe was colic. Then he was pretty happy for a couple months and then the last couple months he seems to be really happy when everyone is home - especially Daddy! I think we may have a Daddy's boy on our hands! Andy is happy about that because the other three have all been more Mommy's babies. When it is just me and him and Kassi - he is happy if I have my FULL attention on him - which means he is on my hip helping me most of the time. So, lets just say the house is not as spotless as I would like and my projects are on the back burner. He is a sweetie though, and we all love him so much. I haven't uploaded Mother's Day or Easter pictures yet, so I thought I'd catch up to that point first. I don't know why I can never seem to edit a post. I just tried editing Kassi's birthday post because I found a page full of notes about her birthday that didn't quite match up with my brain's memory of what she did and said that day. But, it wouldn't allow me to publish the post with the changes?!? Here are a few funny things Kassi said and did - some of which I neglected to write down and others in which I shamefully thought I remembered correctly and did not (I'm also hoping to add a little side bar to the blog this week with some of the funny things the kids have said lately and a couple of these may make that list):
Background: Kassi and I are dancing in the kitchen the week of her birthday. She is wearing a pretty pink princess dress.
KASSI: "Mom, you can't be a pwincess - you don't have a dwess. But... you can be a Mommy Pwincess." (She then hands me a dish cloth to tie around my waste "fow a skiwt".)
MOM: (I had to find a bigger one that would fit around this post baby bearing waste of mine and it happened to be a white one.)
KASSI: "Mom, YOU AN ANGEL!"
MOM: (My heart smiling) "Can I be an Angel Princess?"
KASSI: "YA!"
Background: Kassi feeding Nathan in her princess dress, after she decided to try a bite herself.
KASSI: "Ew . . . this wice ceweal is disgusting!" (it was actually butternut squash with oatmeal, but you can't blame her for not liking any food pureed like that! :)
My favorite:
Background: Kassi wanted to dance with "Pwince Yathan" - it didn't last too long because princess Kassi insisted on holding him herself and "Pwince Yathan" is a very good eater and a little heavy for a little princess to hold "aw bya hewsewf!" She asked to hold him sitting down, which was nice for a few seconds before "Pwince Yathan" started pinching her dress and she said, "Hey . . . DON'T! I'M A PWINCESS!" I hope she remembers that line for when she starts dating in case any of the boys are too forward!
Background: Kassi stopped taking naps about the same time Nathan was born - only napping when we are in the car or other convenient times - like RIGHT before we have to pick up Drew from school or somewhere else.
Me: (In hopes of a small miracle) "Kassi, princesses take naps. What bed would Princess Kassi like to sleep in?"
Kassi: (very promptly) "I'm going to change my clothes. I don't want to be a princess."
And, one that I messed up remembering correctly:
Me: (trying to get her to want to eat fresh pico de gallo for lunch instead of her frequently requested pickles) "Did you know this is called "Pico de Gallo?"
Kassi: (with her funny questioning face) "Pickle Guyo? .... I like chips and salsa!"
