So, I think I'm going to start writing some of the funny things the kids say on the blog, randomly ... so that I don't forget how incredibly funny they are. I love how a couple of my friends have places on the side of their blogs where it has all the funny things their kids say - so maybe I'll do that soon. But, for now, I just wanted to write down a couple things they have said and done recently:
Last night Jesi got to go to a "Late Night" party where she and her friend and a few other girls watched the movie, "Tangled". The "late" night ended at 9 pm :). When she came home, we realized that her p.j.'s looked a bit small and Kassi's looked REALLY big. Sure enough, she had worn Kassi's PJ's and Kassi was wearing hers (the same princess style). She had taken her treasured Unicorn pillow pet and was talking to Andy when she entered the house. (Andy had taken Drew and a friend swimming while I stayed home and watched "Tangled" with Kassi and Nathan.) Jesi said, "I always said 'Unicorn', but now I know it is actually 'Uni-Horn'! I told her that made better sense :). Kind of like how I always thought it was the "Heimlich REMOVER" rather than the Heimlich maneuver. You ARE trying to remove something, right! Oh, and speaking of the movie "Tangled", Jesi has been going through a dangerous phase with scissors lately and I'm terrified that it will pass on to her little sis - who has much less fear of what will happen if she does something crazy. I have found quite a bit of hair and fur in the garbage can recently - and thankfully found it was the stuffed kitty, barbie, and stuffed dog that had been barbered and not my girls' beautiful hair, (which could definitely use a trim, but hopefully by someone slightly more professional than themselves). Well, just before our recent trip to Colorado, I noticed that Jesi had a large clump of hair on each side of her head that she had cut to just below shoulder length. It almost looks like she was trying to taper the sides. So, I guess it could be worse. I can just imagine Kassi deciding to chop off all of her hair after watching that movie the other night - and maybe trying to dye it with chocolate syrup or something to turn it brown. Only time will tell, but the scissors are up where I can barely reach them for now!
Kassi received some cash last week from her great grandma for her birthday. We had some time to kill at Target a couple days ago while Andy had meetings, so Kassi went from wanting a Dora doll, to a "pretty dress" to settle on the cutest little ballerina swimsuit you ever saw. She is wearing it today and was trying to find some hair things to wear. I went upstairs, realizing that she had been quiet for several minutes to find her hands completely purple with rubber bands all the way up her wrists - in their varied colors, cutting off the circulation to her hands. So, just imagine the cutest little ballerina ever with colored fuzzy rubber bands up her arms and her purple little hands trying to put more on and you'll see what I saw this morning.
I really need to get some film coverage of Nathan's new tricks. He has been sitting up for several weeks now on his own and he is a very talented tongue clicker. I was amazed several days ago when he started clicking his tongue. He gets going and doesn't stop sometimes and it is too cute. One thing that isn't so cute is how he, more than any of our other kids - makes it very difficult to change his diapers. As soon as you lay him on his back, he wants to flip over onto his tummy and the changing table of all places is his favorite place to do this - and he is one STRONG baby! I also love how much he loves his socks and toes. For the last couple months or more, he has been pulling off his socks every chance he can get. I think we definitely have lots of single socks around here without matches, so if you're at the store or somewhere we may have been and find a cute little single sock, you'll know we were there. He is an incredible eater and loves oatmeal mixed with applesauce, bananas, or recently - pears. He also loves his veggies. And you really can not feed this boy fast enough. He eats a bite and you CAN NOT get his next bite before he starts crying for more.
Okay, so this little post is turning into a novel, just like every one of my journal entries. Drew is doing an incredible job on the piano and entertains us every day with his music and he LOVES playing with his siblings and friends. On this last trip to Colorado he said, "This is the BEST PLACE EVER!" His Uncle Ken went to a lot of trouble to let us stay with him, bring Andy's grandparents to his home, and let Drew help feed the horses and let us go for rides on the horses! It was Drew's dream vacation - complete with trucks, trailers, dogs and cats! We have been enjoying an extended Spring Break as we left early for Colorado and came home to a whole week without school! I'm really excited about this summer and all the fun we will have along with the yard work and garden. I'm mostly excited about the warm weather & sunshine, the trips to the park, watching the kids pick cherry tomatoes and run in the sprinklers, and more time to spend with these cute kiddos before they grow up any more! I'll post pictures soon. I know I'm still behind!
